For 25 years Holy Angels students in the 6 th , 7 th , and 8 th grade have participated in a program called the Science Olympiad. This program is one of the most acclaimed extracurricular science programs in the country with 7,500 middle and high school teams participating in all 50 states. It covers all fields such as science, technology, engineering, and math. It was STEM before the acronym became popular. Participating students work on academic events at an upper high school level while others work on engineering based construction events with each student working on at least four events. Teams of 15 students work on the 23 events making up each year’s program. Students earning a ribbon or medal in Science Olympiad have learned and accomplished much and really deserve to smile when awarded.
